All movie and TV shoots have times in production that look utterly ridiculous from an outside perspective. That's because making it look it good on camera is everything.

The scene with the man standing knock-kneed seems silly. But he has to do that so his face stays in frame with the woman's face. He's clearly much taller than her, so if he stood at full height there would be too much discrepancy for a good head-and-shoulders two-shot (two people in the same frame).

If his lower body isn't on camera, it doesn't matter how his legs look. This is screen craft 101.

OP thought all TV is real life found footage.
