I was friends with a woman for years who would regularly get this level of trashed. For the longest time, I thought she was putting on a show, pretending to be drunk because it just seemed so cliche, from the way her speech slurred to her cadence. She would always call me when she was in trouble and it got to a point where I just couldn’t be there for her anymore. It’s hard to save someone who’s drowning when all they do is pull you under.

I had a guy do this same thing, minus the recording, when I was managing a sports bar. I told him I was gonna call the cops and he said he was a lawyer. When the cops showed up, he ducked out a side door but they found him in the parking lot. Later, I asked one of the cops who had been talking to him what was going to happen to him. The cop just said “He made the decision to go to jail tonight”. 😆
