Farts to the face on a 8hr flight …..

I like the idea of rethinking seat design. These are my main observations.

  1. Hard to believe there's that kind of vertical space available. Seems like plane "ceilings" would have to be raised.

  2. Looks like it would be ever harder for those with disabilities or who are obese to get into the seats.

  3. That's a lot to take in, the idea of bums in the face.

Honestly the lies here. Is there suddenly 12 feet of vertical space on a 737?

this again??? this is not and will never be a layout on planes, it was just some guys idea at a show years ago

The final endgame of monopolized airline travel will be to stack us in coffins with anesthesia. Then when we get used to that they'll take away the anesthesia.

I think we all know why no one's gonna care for this.

I've been seeing some variant of this "concept" for a decade now, and while I'm sure the airlines would *love* to figure out a way to stuff even more people onto planes, the reality is this is completely unworkable for the elderly and disabled, so it's a non-starter.

Farting is a normal body function and can happen 10-40 times a day. We as people generally ignore it. We might hold our nose and breathe for a few seconds for it to dissipate if it is audible or especially stinky.

However if you stack people so that they have a rear end in their face there is going to be a lot of contention because you will have half the people farting in the face of others on a multi hour flight. This will erode social niceties and create so much contention it will certainly increase the number of fights on planes. It will also make some throw up.

It also looks physically difficult to even get into the lower seats. This is bad because a lot of people have mobility issues that generally do not require help but squeezing in like you are tetris blocks can make it really painful. This is also true of people with back issues.

This is a horrible and disgusting idea.

Everyone talking farts but missing why this will never work. Think of how long it takes to board a plane and disembark a plane. Now make it so you got all these extra people climbing and squeezing in these tiny spaces. Now, think if something caught fire.
