What memes, TikTok trends, or viral topics are trending in California right now? Where do you usually go to keep up with what’s popular locally?

I work remotely from the Philippines and want to stay updated on what’s happening in California. What memes, TikTok trends, viral videos, or local topics are people talking about right now? Any subreddits, accounts, or pages you recommend following?

r/California and r/LosAngeles are decent for local stuff, though they lean news-heavy. For TikTok trends I just browse the app with location set to LA, the algorithm does the rest. Most of what's big there bleeds into other states within a week anyway

Social media is definitely over glamorized… As someone who quit there 9-5 & started working full time as a content creator who makes roughly 4-6k a month

Definitely changed my life & gives me so much more free time but also ruined my life. Its been 2 years & im slowly starting to hate it , especially as somebody who runs everything by themselves with no help. It’s a lot more than people think and actually having control over everything and choosing your own schedule is much harder than some people think you have to push yourself more to make the content to engage to produce to push yourself to a new extreme and much more, I will say I’ve learned a lot, but I’ve also lost a lot , my brain chemistry will never be the same again after this job, which I’m OK with that, but there’s a lot more to it than what people say, especially in the industry that I work in

What social media trend are you noticing right now?

Social media feels very different in 2026. A few things I’ve noticed: \* AI content is everywhere, so real human content stands out more. \* Small niche creators often have stronger communities than huge pages. \* People now use Instagram, TikTok, Reddit and YouTube like search engines. \* Short-form video is still huge, but useful content performs better than random clips. \* Building a community is becoming more valuable than just gaining followers. I think the biggest trend is simple: \*\*Content is getting easier to create, but trust is getting harder to earn.\*\*

Hot take: going viral once is one of the worst things that can happen to a small account

Hear me out. One post hits 500K views, you pick up a couple thousand followers who came for that one random thing, and then your next 10 posts do worse than before the viral one. Those new people followed a moment, not you. They don't watch your normal stuff, so the platform sees lower watch time and engagement on everything after and quietly pulls back reach. From what I've seen, more small accounts stall after a viral hit than grow from it. The ones that actually benefit already had a clear thing they post about, so the viral post was just a louder version of their normal content. So instead of chasing one big hit, maybe chase being the account people come back to. Disagree? Has a viral post actually helped your account long term, or did it mess up your reach after?

How do you handle music for brand Reels/TikToks?

Genuine question for people managing brand accounts. Where does your music come from: trending sounds, a library like Epidemic, something custom? Have you ever had a video muted or taken down over music? And what’s the most annoying part of the whole thing?

Will the social media influencer era will be dead after the new ai influencers wave?

I’ve been thinking that many people aspire to become influencers and gain recognition on social media platforms by creating content. However, with the rise of AI influencers, it will become increasingly challenging to compete with them across various domains, including travel, fashion, and information dissemination. Do you see this too?

One creator account or two separate ones?

I’ve built a fairly large audience through aesthetic lifestyle content like cozy home videos, cooking, cute drinks, cafés, and daily vlogs. However, I also love makeup, beauty, fashion, and modeling, and I want to become known personally rather than just for my aesthetic content. I created a separate account for my face, beauty, and fashion, but now I’m unsure whether to keep both accounts or combine everything. I’m worried that mixing cozy lifestyle content with makeup videos, fashion, and more personal content might make my main account feel inconsistent. I also don’t want to lose the audience and identity I’ve worked hard to build, but I also don’t want to limit myself creatively The content overlaps a lot, too. Where would things like daily vlogs, beauty treatments, shopping, and café visits go? Those clips are of me and related to beauty, but they’re also my life and lifestyle i also had thoughts like, if someone asks for my social media, which one do I give out? Which one is me? Which is my main account? I’ve been going back and forth on this for so long that I genuinely don’t know what makes the most sense anymore it’s stressing me out😭 i really appreciate any ideas and opinions!
