Hate the Fact that TIkTok proved the US is not a free country, but at least everyone knows now

I mean freedom is speech, gone. freedom of commerce, gone because only Mafia Dons hold a gun to your head and force you to sell your company, oh Mafia Don's and the corrupt US government. Freedom of association gone, and gone with a ruling fully hypocritical to their Citizens United Ruling that increased government corruption in the US. I mean not a surprise from a court that held bribery was legal and the President is above the law. The Banana Republic has come home to roost.

It's really sad that an app being banned is the wake up call to so many that things aren't right in this country. Seriously, it's really messed up. This ban is the least of our worries.

Do you know what going to happen tonight? Like if I’m scrolling at 11:59pm will the app just shut down on me at 12am?

Only rich tech CEOs are going to his inauguration. No community leaders, no scientists, no one that stands for knowledge or society. Just rich, greedy fricks.

People in the States are losing rights left and right, and it'll without a doubt get worse in the next four years.

If Americans didn't already know that they live in a country that is far from free, they'll never realize it. Hopefully, ignorance is bliss. The truth would hurt.

Not defending anyone, but Biden is the one who got the TikTok ban started, it is not just an orange man bad situation but something a little deeper

Edit: apparently it got started by trump, I just heard that Biden defended the ban too, point is still the same though

Freedom of Speech doesn’t apply to foreign companies.

You’re allowed to use a different app or make a new app.

Nonsensical whining

Read the opinion. It’s neutral on content.

Stop pouting and read it. BTW the 1st allows you to petition the government- did you do that 4 years ago when the ban was discussed?

Up until now, Freedom of speech has been fine. Just because you THINK the 1a was violated doesn't mean it actually was. It means you cannot grasp 1a. Congress made no laws prohibiting the freedom of speech

I say up until now, because, obviously , this ban violates 1a. A law was literally created to limit your freedom of speech and expression. Doesn't matter how carefully crafted the wording is. That's the sole purpose of the law.

I’ve been screaming this at people for ages. The law isn’t about banning TikTok- hell, if you read the actual bill, TikTok only appears a handful of times. The law is about banning ANYTHING operated in a foreign country- any app, company, product- unless it’s sold to the United States government. It’s not about banning an app that’s collecting user data for a foreign country- it’s so the US government can consolidate power and control what we see. It’s an isolationist play.

But everyone I talked to was just like ‘TikTok bad, ban the bad China app’ without looking at the full picture. And now that the ban is going through, I can’t help but get a sinking feeling that this is only the beginning.

Edit: if you don’t believe me, read the actual law that was passed- H.R-7521. It’s publicly available on Congress’s website for you to read.
