What was the point of TikTok getting banned?

I'm not crazy about TikTok, but seriously, why did they ban it, only to unban it hours later? People freaked when it got banned, and some even, like, seriously lost it to the point they actually called a hotline and ended it all believe it or not. The worst part is people did that just and then TikTok gets unbanned, there's no respawn button, this isn't Minecraft. It really doesn't make sense to me honestly.
