Getting banned from RedNote

When they say they don't want political posts, they mean it. Even posting content like labor history will get you banned. Their view seems that anything that may interfere with a sense of social harmony between East and West will get you banned. Eugene Debs will get you banned. Black Panther Party content will get you banned. You want to make the argument for the conservative position? Also banned. If you think they want to promote socialism.... nope. They want to live in harmony with America and if you suggest there have been and continue to be problems with the United States they will ban you. If you promote left or right perspectives of history, they will ban you. No politics means NO POLITICS. It may seem odd to the Western mindset, but remember: the West values individualism, the East values social harmony and collectivism. It's their platform, their rules, and that's fine. Cultural values are very different. Leftists go and think RedBook is leftist and Conservatives go and think RedBook is conservative. It's just a different perspective on the world.

Why are you trying to post political content to the lifestyle app in the first place. Just talk about food like a normal person.

Don't bother trying to figure out China's censorship system. Even people who've been using the Chinese internet for years can't fully understand its rules—because there are no clear rules to begin with. As we Chinese say, "The law must remain unknowable, so its power remains unfathomable." The lack of clear guidelines is intentional, as it forces people to self-censor.

the West values individualism, the East values social harmony and collectivism

That's a simplified view typical of Americans who are used to complicated subjects being dumbed down for them. There's nothing that "collectivist" about East Asians. Rather, Americans are generally far more narcissistic and self-serving so anything that's not "me me me" and "I am a special snowflake" may come off as "collectivist".

Also, the censorship you encountered has nothing to do with this and has everything about controlling the narrative. The CCP does not like insurrectionist movements. You will not find this type of censorship in Korea, Japan, or Taiwan.

To be fare, if you talk about politics in r/lifestyle or r/foodhacks , you'd probably be banned too.

That's honestly why I'm sticking around and I'm glad they're doing what's best for their platform.

You're so close to getting it... There's no politics because the CCP wants no politics.

Look, I've been to China a few times, and the government is serious things like that. I remember being in Shanghai once. I was in my hotel room. CNN was on, and it was the anniversary of Tiananmen Square. I was getting ready and then suddenly the TV broadcast stopped. At first, I was like, "Did the power go out?" But no, the lights were on and everything else was fine. I remembered where I was, and that was that.

Their app. Their rules.

I'm not touching politics on that app.

I've seen lots of political posts in the past few days and they are still up.

It’s so funny I keep seeing people say this when the app is literally named “little red book” a book written by Mao.

It’s fine to have political posts as long as it’s pro-China or anti-American

Making the Jump from TikTok to Rednote(Xiaohongshu)? Here’s What You Need to Know

So you’re thinking about switching (or at least dabbling) from TikTok to **Rednote** (aka Xiaohongshu)? Here’s a quick rundown on what to expect and how to adapt: 1. **Different Vibe** * **TikTok** is all about short, snappy videos—dances, trends, and memes. * **Rednote** leans more toward lifestyle tips, product reviews, and personal stories. Think mini-blogs rather than just quick clips. 2. **Less is More—or Is It?** * On **TikTok**, you can go viral with a 15-second masterpiece. * On **Rednote**, people actually read captions and appreciate detailed posts. Don’t be afraid to write a bit more and share personal insights. 3. **Engage with the Community** * Responding to comments is key on both platforms, but **Rednote** users expect a friendlier, more helpful approach. Focus on real interaction rather than just racking up views. 4. **Use Relevant Hashtags & Keywords** * **TikTok** hashtags can be trendy and fleeting. * **Rednote** hashtags and keywords should be more targeted, especially if you’re reviewing products or sharing how-to tips. 5. **Be Ready for Culture Shifts** * The **Rednote** audience often loves beauty, travel, fashion, and “real-life” hacks. * If you’re pivoting from dance challenges, consider experimenting with lifestyle or review content to fit the platform’s style. 6. **Quality Over Quantity** * While **TikTok** can reward frequent posting, **Rednote** might favor fewer, well-thought-out posts that really resonate. High-quality visuals and genuine storytelling go a long way. Got questions about Rednote? Drop ’em below—always happy to help a fellow content creator make the jump!

The ban isn't really about privacy concerns

Why exactly? You and me know why America is banning tiktok... They can't control the narrative their like they do with Facebook or Instagram YouTube. etc The genocide in Gaza was being shown in its full without any kind of censorship... And daddy israel doesn't like that so the AIPAC who's holding the American politicians by the balls... Forced them into banning the app.... It's not about privacy or any of that.... Remember edward Snowden.? I rest my case.

Y'all know why Trump suddenly became "pro-TikTok" right?

Say it with me....because he and his oligarch buddies are getting worried Americans are waking up to the truth about the anti-China propaganda BS in Red Note and will either demand better conditions or go full socialist.
