Someone's posting my videos and pretending to be me

I noticed an account that was posting my TikToks and pretending to be me (they have other videos of other people, as well). I reported the account for impersonating me and had a couple of my friends to report the videos too, since they're literally my videos lol. TikTok apparently decided that the account "doesn't violate the community guidelines" and has done absolutely nothing to take these videos down. Is there anything I can do? This account is also posting sexual videos (of other people, not me) and I don't want my face associated with that kind of content.

There’s basically nothing you can other than request a takedown (you tried this already), have a lawyer request a takedown, /or make a public statement to your followers that this is not you.

I went through a similar situation back in August or so, and it took me a few months to resolve everything. This person was downloading my videos and photos (my username was watermarked on them!) and reposting them with different audios. They also tried manipulating me into paying them to take the account down. Reporting through the app itself did absolutely nothing, but after a while I finally got it taken care of. Here’s what I did:

  1. Fill out a report that you are being impersonated. You will need to upload documentation that proves who you are, links to the impersonator’s account, and a brief summary of what is happening. It will take a little while to hear back.

  2. You’ll get an email stating whether they can “take action” on the account or not. They initially said that the account was not violating guidelines. I responded with screenshots of my account proving the videos and photos were mine, and screenshots of the impersonator posting my videos/photos. This seemed to help my case, as they responded a day later that the account was taken down.

If you want, I can post screenshots of what my email said and give you the email account they reached out from, if you want to skip over the reporting step.

I hope this goes smoother for you than it did for me!
