Every company that does business with you will need your Tax ID or SSN to comply with tax regulations. They report the earnings to the govt to issue you a 1099. The ID is to confirm your age and to make sure you are who you say you are.

Your info is more than likely already leaked like the rest of us. Just lock your credit file. Tax ID is safer in my opinion. Get a mailbox at ups store or an online mailbox, that way you don’t have e to use your home address.
