I googled it and it says it isn't, but that could just be US propaganda. The US government has told us so many lies about China, not to mention the billionaires own most of our "news" media so I don't know what to believe. I'd like to keep using it, its honesty better than tiktok, but I'm worried if it has access to my bank info :/

I mean tbh it's no more unsafe than us platforms that just sell our data to China anyways. Just as with any social media platforms don't put anything out there you don't want out there

I genuinely enjoy it, takes some extra work with the main language in Mandarin but there are many translators or half the posts are in english. Instagram, Pintrest and similar Tiktok video style is the vibe.
Ive been on daily for about two weeks now. No problems, Red Note staff warned foreign users about local internet scams and added a translation feature. Just read the TOS.
I used my phone number and nothing weird, no calls or spam texts.
That said, no different than Insta, Facebook and Tiktok having your info.
i wouldn't use it. i know its trendy and a meme rn but my friend said you can get in trouble for a lot of everyday things. i feel like another app like bluesky did for twitter will fill the space in time
