Yeah..... the vibe ain't right atm

TL;DR Algorithm yeeted my preferences again and is feeding me stuff I don't care for. (But this is not a "I'm deleting the app" post; I'm just disappointed.)

A couple of days I made a post about how my FYP completely changed from having a lot of my interests on it (art, food, books, etc., and all in Mandarin, very few subtitles) to suddenly being thumbnail after thumbnail of Chinese women showing their bodies in specific postures (mostly their butts). I mentioned how I have zero interest in this and did not even tap on those videos but tried very quickly to address the issue by searching for the content I'm interested in.

TWO DAYS LATER, after my FYP had been fixed, we're back to the t*ts and *ss.

I'm not sure what's going on with XHS's algorithm, or how they determine what viewers of a certain sex/age receive on their FYP, but I've been using XHS for longer than most Americans (before "TikTok migration") and I've never had this problem.

It's very sad, honestly, because I feel like my experience of the app is being influenced by factors completely out of my control, and that's just not how these sorts of apps are supposed to function. My "Follow" page, thankfully, still has all the people I follow, and I'm doing as a user recommended and just gone on there and furiously hit "LIKE LIKE LIKE" on everything there. And that has (probably temporarily) fixed my FYP again. But as I scrolled down further, I noticed two or three of these "softcore p0rn" videos already rearing their heads among my preferred content. I marked them as "Not Interested" so I'm really really hoping that does something.

If it doesn't, well... it's been a good one guys. I'll keep coming back on here for any potential news of the algorithm becoming much better, and I won't uninstall or anything, but yeah, can't really use the app if the content just isn't for me.

My algorithm went from Chinese mandarin lessons and food videos to US politics so yeah I get it

My husband gets those type of videos on tiktok. Its just someone with no life using a bot system to spam porn pics. 3 days of naked girls then for about 2 weeks it stopped. Haven’t had an incident since yet but this has happened before months ago too.

Just report the account and move on. Its interesting tho that its on rednote too and not just tiktok

Soft porn can even be found in food delivery apps or payment apps in china. It’s likely a business model for attracting male customers. XHS used soft porn ads "Countless beautiful women on XHS—watch for free, no cost at all!" on male-dominated platforms to attract men. I guess the boss of XHS or TIKTOK believe it helps he retain men.

This is how the Chinese company works sadly. They have discovered that, by forwarding these softcore porns to any male users, the times of view have grown 10 times. For you, maybe a good way is to change your profile gender to female.

A few days back I was suddenly getting all these graphic videos about animals in unsafe situations. Like finding puppies in a garbage can and saying it was bad luck to help them get out. Or a newborn kitten on the sidewalk. They weren’t even rescue videos. Just a bit disturbing. That only lasted a couple days thankfully. Maybe they are experimenting with algorithm changes.

Making the Jump from TikTok to Rednote(Xiaohongshu)? Here’s What You Need to Know

So you’re thinking about switching (or at least dabbling) from TikTok to **Rednote** (aka Xiaohongshu)? Here’s a quick rundown on what to expect and how to adapt: 1. **Different Vibe** * **TikTok** is all about short, snappy videos—dances, trends, and memes. * **Rednote** leans more toward lifestyle tips, product reviews, and personal stories. Think mini-blogs rather than just quick clips. 2. **Less is More—or Is It?** * On **TikTok**, you can go viral with a 15-second masterpiece. * On **Rednote**, people actually read captions and appreciate detailed posts. Don’t be afraid to write a bit more and share personal insights. 3. **Engage with the Community** * Responding to comments is key on both platforms, but **Rednote** users expect a friendlier, more helpful approach. Focus on real interaction rather than just racking up views. 4. **Use Relevant Hashtags & Keywords** * **TikTok** hashtags can be trendy and fleeting. * **Rednote** hashtags and keywords should be more targeted, especially if you’re reviewing products or sharing how-to tips. 5. **Be Ready for Culture Shifts** * The **Rednote** audience often loves beauty, travel, fashion, and “real-life” hacks. * If you’re pivoting from dance challenges, consider experimenting with lifestyle or review content to fit the platform’s style. 6. **Quality Over Quantity** * While **TikTok** can reward frequent posting, **Rednote** might favor fewer, well-thought-out posts that really resonate. High-quality visuals and genuine storytelling go a long way. Got questions about Rednote? Drop ’em below—always happy to help a fellow content creator make the jump!

The ban isn't really about privacy concerns

Why exactly? You and me know why America is banning tiktok... They can't control the narrative their like they do with Facebook or Instagram YouTube. etc The genocide in Gaza was being shown in its full without any kind of censorship... And daddy israel doesn't like that so the AIPAC who's holding the American politicians by the balls... Forced them into banning the app.... It's not about privacy or any of that.... Remember edward Snowden.? I rest my case.

Y'all know why Trump suddenly became "pro-TikTok" right?

Say it with me....because he and his oligarch buddies are getting worried Americans are waking up to the truth about the anti-China propaganda BS in Red Note and will either demand better conditions or go full socialist.
