Discovered Message Request Tab

As the title says, I just discovered my message request tab on TikTok (as I usually only pay attention to dms sent to me by friends) and realized there were quite a few dating back months. Why is this tab so hidden and have any of you guys seen it as well? Is there a way to make my dms more accessible or do you all just check the tab frequently?
