Is thinspo really popular in china

So, I know the algorithm is my fault because I will come across these videos of these women sharing crazy weight loss tips (like putting patches on your belly button and stuff), and I always watch them because I’m so intrigued. Now, that’s basically all of the videos I see. Is this common in China or is it just because of my algorithm?

They're popular but also know that many eating disorder Twitter girls were on XHS before it became popular. I genuinely had issues with it pushing ed/self harm stuff on my homepage because of them

I almost never see videos like that on my feed. I have been using xhs for over a year.

However, thin is definitely considered parts of the Chinese aesthetics. There's a lot of fat shaming in our culture. Chinese aesthetics can be very monotonous, thin, pale, long hair, etc. It doesn't have much room for diversity.

the algo is pretty quick to react. hit the heart button on other kinds of content to switch it up

I'm Chinese, and I've never seen the content you mentioned

Not so common. There is no online forums for this purpose specifically, so they tend to use a tag on xhs to form an online community.

No this is not common. At least not super common I think. Idk. I've never seen such content and I'm Chinese. And I've been on Xiaohongshu for years (since 2018).

I've always been "small" because I'm petite, thin and I was a former dancer. So keeping fit and maintaining a good weight was crucial (as a dancer).

I saw someone tried to argue that dancers in China are "physically fit" and being skin and bones are what dancers look like.

No, they don't!

Even at my skinniest I was never skin and bones. At my skinniest, because I was depressed (after being hospitalized for falling and breaking my leg), I was 42kg at 153cm which was slightly underweight. But my family and friends got me help and I was back to my usual 48kg about a year later. Honestly, even at my skinniest at 42kg, I don't look like skin and bones (the girl in the pic in the comments must have weighed less than 40kg I think).

Plus, none of the girls and boys in my dance school were ever that skinny until they look like skin and bones. Our dance teacher would bench us (and get help for us) immediately if we looked like skin and bones.

Most of my other Chinese female friends are all small and thin too. But not THAT thin.

I’m Chinese, and when I see one of those, I hit the dislike button. Too disgusting

I have been seeing the most insane amounts of Anorexia and the most extreme cases of it on rednote and it’s so normalized on there 😭

Report them! Rednote is really algorithm based so most users won't see it and the ones who do happened by chance or part of ED.

Making the Jump from TikTok to Rednote(Xiaohongshu)? Here’s What You Need to Know

So you’re thinking about switching (or at least dabbling) from TikTok to **Rednote** (aka Xiaohongshu)? Here’s a quick rundown on what to expect and how to adapt: 1. **Different Vibe** * **TikTok** is all about short, snappy videos—dances, trends, and memes. * **Rednote** leans more toward lifestyle tips, product reviews, and personal stories. Think mini-blogs rather than just quick clips. 2. **Less is More—or Is It?** * On **TikTok**, you can go viral with a 15-second masterpiece. * On **Rednote**, people actually read captions and appreciate detailed posts. Don’t be afraid to write a bit more and share personal insights. 3. **Engage with the Community** * Responding to comments is key on both platforms, but **Rednote** users expect a friendlier, more helpful approach. Focus on real interaction rather than just racking up views. 4. **Use Relevant Hashtags & Keywords** * **TikTok** hashtags can be trendy and fleeting. * **Rednote** hashtags and keywords should be more targeted, especially if you’re reviewing products or sharing how-to tips. 5. **Be Ready for Culture Shifts** * The **Rednote** audience often loves beauty, travel, fashion, and “real-life” hacks. * If you’re pivoting from dance challenges, consider experimenting with lifestyle or review content to fit the platform’s style. 6. **Quality Over Quantity** * While **TikTok** can reward frequent posting, **Rednote** might favor fewer, well-thought-out posts that really resonate. High-quality visuals and genuine storytelling go a long way. Got questions about Rednote? Drop ’em below—always happy to help a fellow content creator make the jump!

The ban isn't really about privacy concerns

Why exactly? You and me know why America is banning tiktok... They can't control the narrative their like they do with Facebook or Instagram YouTube. etc The genocide in Gaza was being shown in its full without any kind of censorship... And daddy israel doesn't like that so the AIPAC who's holding the American politicians by the balls... Forced them into banning the app.... It's not about privacy or any of that.... Remember edward Snowden.? I rest my case.

Y'all know why Trump suddenly became "pro-TikTok" right?

Say it with me....because he and his oligarch buddies are getting worried Americans are waking up to the truth about the anti-China propaganda BS in Red Note and will either demand better conditions or go full socialist.
