Americans ruined rednote so fast

I got on rednote as soon as the migration happened. Not a TT user but live Asian culture. Was so happy to see so much wholesome high quality content.

A few weeks later the app is flooded with videos of Americans fighting in streets, racist comments on posts about Chinese food, and the usual American attitude of me me me.

If you make an account and go to rednote do the world a favor: don't post. Don't comment.

It's not your culture. Be a gracious observer and nothing else. I guarantee they're disgusted and fed up with Americans already. We are like uncivilized swine compared to these other countries. No manners. No consideration for others. It's gross. Stop posting content.

your take seems highly exaggerated. i spend a lot of time there and most of my observations are not nearly as bad as you describe. vast majority of US based IP comments and posts appear reasonable and respectful.

  1. Only follow Chinese users or foreigners who live in China
  2. Tell the algo you don’t like the clickbait/ragebait cringe American stuff
  3. Don’t tell me not to post. I already have a big Chinese reading/movie list from asking Chinese people for recommendations
  4. Learn how to actually use the app before you complain about it

I think you might have followed or engaged with some toxic people. I’m American but am not seeing those posts. I see food, culture, and travel. I had to select some categories that I’m interested in seeing, so maybe adjust those too.

I'm American and i've barely seen any inflammatory videos on my feed. I see a lot of Chinese users posting recipes, fitness video, art...and Americans sprinkled in, but the posts are super tame. Could it be you're seeing these videos because you're engaging with this content?

… My algorithm is very different from yours. Just stop interacting with and clicking on posts of this kind. And there is a button you can press to tell the algorithm you don’t like the video or creator

Counterpoint:

I literally saw a Chinese post on Rednote this morning stating they are so happy the Americans are there because they enjoy seeing other people's perspectives and culture, largely because China blocks every single American social app to control their own people.

If you continually see trashy American content like girls dancing in their underwear, street fights and homeless people, it's because you're lingering on that content and liking it.

I think you just outed yourself.

I’ve been on RedNote since the ban and have not experienced this. Just search stuff related to Chinese culture to fix your algorithm. I’ve been learning Mandarin and I’m particularly interested in their calligraphy so I’ve searched and liked a lot of calligraphy videos and my feed is flooded with them now. Plus Chinese cooking videos 😋❤️ there’s literally like 300million people on xhs, you’re just stuck in an echo chamber right now

Rednote has a very strong algorithm. If you don't interact with those posts you will stop seeing them. I'm getting very tired of this attitude of excessive shame from Americans as if we're powerful enough to ruin everything we touch. We're massively outnumbered by Chinese users, and if they want to stop seeing Americans' videos, they can use the "not interested" setting and Rednote will quickly start hiding them.

Most of it is cool…but I have seen a lot of Americans spreading political vomit all over the app. No one in China wants to hear about Trump 24/7. Keep that crap on Reddit.

I’ve been rarely seeing any Americans on my feed

Making the Jump from TikTok to Rednote(Xiaohongshu)? Here’s What You Need to Know

So you’re thinking about switching (or at least dabbling) from TikTok to **Rednote** (aka Xiaohongshu)? Here’s a quick rundown on what to expect and how to adapt: 1. **Different Vibe** * **TikTok** is all about short, snappy videos—dances, trends, and memes. * **Rednote** leans more toward lifestyle tips, product reviews, and personal stories. Think mini-blogs rather than just quick clips. 2. **Less is More—or Is It?** * On **TikTok**, you can go viral with a 15-second masterpiece. * On **Rednote**, people actually read captions and appreciate detailed posts. Don’t be afraid to write a bit more and share personal insights. 3. **Engage with the Community** * Responding to comments is key on both platforms, but **Rednote** users expect a friendlier, more helpful approach. Focus on real interaction rather than just racking up views. 4. **Use Relevant Hashtags & Keywords** * **TikTok** hashtags can be trendy and fleeting. * **Rednote** hashtags and keywords should be more targeted, especially if you’re reviewing products or sharing how-to tips. 5. **Be Ready for Culture Shifts** * The **Rednote** audience often loves beauty, travel, fashion, and “real-life” hacks. * If you’re pivoting from dance challenges, consider experimenting with lifestyle or review content to fit the platform’s style. 6. **Quality Over Quantity** * While **TikTok** can reward frequent posting, **Rednote** might favor fewer, well-thought-out posts that really resonate. High-quality visuals and genuine storytelling go a long way. Got questions about Rednote? Drop ’em below—always happy to help a fellow content creator make the jump!

The ban isn't really about privacy concerns

Why exactly? You and me know why America is banning tiktok... They can't control the narrative their like they do with Facebook or Instagram YouTube. etc The genocide in Gaza was being shown in its full without any kind of censorship... And daddy israel doesn't like that so the AIPAC who's holding the American politicians by the balls... Forced them into banning the app.... It's not about privacy or any of that.... Remember edward Snowden.? I rest my case.

Y'all know why Trump suddenly became "pro-TikTok" right?

Say it with me....because he and his oligarch buddies are getting worried Americans are waking up to the truth about the anti-China propaganda BS in Red Note and will either demand better conditions or go full socialist.
