Do you ever feel like TikTok is reading your mind?
Sometimes people say they searched for or spoke about something and then a few days later TikTok is showing them a video about that thing making them wonder whether it can access your internet history.
Every so often I've seen TikToks for something I was thinking about a few days earlier and I'm absolutely sure I did not search for it, or even talked about it. Those subjects often seem so specific that it seems like a huge coincidence.
Some examples are:
- Back pack kid. I was thinking about the funny dance he did and how funny it would be to do it during a work meeting. 2 days later a video about him.
- David Kelly (weapons expert) that died in mysterious circumstances. I couldn't remember his name, it was something that crossed my mind and I wondered if the details were ever made public. A few days later a video about him which actually answered the question I had.
I sometimes wonder if the TikTok algorithm has some way of predicting what you might think about based on videos you interacted with. Or is it just coincidence? Maybe it's just the case that if you keep scrolling through videos it's only a matter of time before you see something you were already thinking about it.
