Can VPN do the job?

Hi, I want to become a Minecraft content creator but barely anyone in my country knows about Minecraft so my question is, can I use a VPN to make my videos go into a foreign country’s fyp? If I remember correctly, I actually tried this method back in 2023 and it worked but it stopped after sometime so I don’t know if it’s back or not, thanks.

My Namesake is going to go deep. Prepare yourself!😁 It’s awesome that you’re looking to break into the Minecraft content creation scene. I totally get wanting to reach an audience beyond your local area, especially if Minecraft isn’t super popular where you are. My Phallus will slide DEEP & dive into you...& your question about using a VPN to get your videos onto foreign countries’ For You Pages (FYP) on TikTok, and I’ll break it down based on how things work as of today, FEBRUARY 24, 2025.

So, can a VPN do the job? The short answer is: it can help, but it’s not a guaranteed or straightforward solution anymore. TikTok’s algorithm has gotten a lot smarter since 2023, and while a VPN might have worked for you back then, there are some hurdles now that could explain why it stopped working—and whether it’ll work again depends on how you approach it.

---How TikTok and its fickleness Decides Your Audience-- TikTok’s FYP algorithm is heavily influenced by location, but it’s not just about your IP address (which a VPN changes). It also looks at things like your SIM card region, the language you use, your device’s app store settings, and even your past activity. When you post a video, TikTok first pushes it to users in your "detected" region to test engagement. If it does well locally, it might spread further, but the initial audience is usually tied to where TikTok thinks you are. A VPN can mask your IP to make it look like you’re in, say, the US or UK (where Minecraft has a huge following), but it’s only part of the puzzle.

Why It Worked in 2023 (and Then Stopped) is bc Back in 2023, using a VPN to shift your location probably worked because TikTok relied more on IP addresses to determine where you were posting from. If you connected to a US server, uploaded your Minecraft video, and got some early traction, it could’ve landed on American FYPs. But when it stopped working, it’s likely because TikTok caught on—either it flagged the VPN usage, linked your account to your real location via other data (like your SIM or account history), or “shadowbanned” you for suspicious activity. Shadowbanning doesn’t mean your account is blocked; it just means your reach gets throttled, often without you knowing why. Since then, TikTok’s gotten better at detecting VPNs. They can identify IP ranges tied to popular VPN providers and cross-check them with other signals. So, if you were hopping on and off a VPN or using it inconsistently, that might’ve tripped their system, nerfing your reach. Like my namesake has whispered before, TikTok is fickle!!

A VPN Can Still Work in 2025 but you’ll need to be strategic. Pick a Reliable VPN! Not all VPNs are equal. Free ones often have overused IP addresses that TikTok can spot a mile away. Go for a paid service with a big server network—like NordVPN or Surfshark—that offers “obfuscated servers” (these hide that you’re using a VPN) and fresh IP addresses. Connect to a country with a big Minecraft fanbase, like the US, UK, or Australia.

Fresh Phallus. If your old account got flagged, it might be tied to your original location or past VPN use. Create a new TikTok account while connected to the VPN. Use a device that hasn’t had TikTok installed before, or at least clear all app data and cache first. This gives you a clean slate.

Pull it OUT or Swap it DEEP! TikTok uses your SIM card’s region code to pin down your location. If you’re in a country with no Minecraft interest, take your SIM out before posting, or get a cheap prepaid SIM from your target country (e.g., a US SIM if you’re targeting the US). Pair this with the VPN for consistency. Turn off your phone’s GPS too—no point giving TikTok extra clues.

A VPN might get your video in front of foreign viewers, but the algorithm still favors content that resonates. Use English (or the target country’s language), jump on Minecraft trends popular there (check hashtags like #MinecraftBuilds or #MinecraftMemes), and post when that audience is active (e.g., US evenings are around 6-9 PM EST).

Consistency is the Key that goes DEEP like my namesake! TikTok might not fully trust a new account or VPN setup right away. Post regularly with the VPN on, and avoid switching locations too much—stick to one country. If you bounce around, it looks fishy, and your reach could tank.

Keep your eyeball flesh open & watch for shadowbanning! If your views suddenly drop to zero or stay super low, you might’ve been flagged. Avoid logging in without the VPN, and don’t use your real phone number or email tied to your home country when setting up the account. Some creators even use a virtual number from their target region to stay legit.

It’s hit or miss these days. Some creators still swear by this method—pairing a VPN with a foreign SIM and a new device can push 30-50% of their views to their target country. But others find TikTok’s algorithm overrides the VPN trick, sticking them with local viewers unless their content goes mega-viral organically. Your 2023 success suggests it’s possible, but the “stopping after some time” part hints TikTok caught on eventually.

For Minecraft specifically, the US and UK are goldmines—tons of players and viewers there. If you can crack their FYP, even partially, it’s a win over staying local where the game’s a ghost town. Just don’t expect a VPN to be a magic bullet; it’s more like a nudge in the right direction.

If the VPN route feels shaky, you could lean on organic growth instead. Post killer Minecraft content—think unique builds, funny skits, or tutorials—and use hashtags and sounds trending in your target countries. The algorithm might pick it up and spread it globally if it pops off. Collaborating with creators in those regions could also bridge the gap without tech tricks.

A VPN can still help get your Minecraft videos onto foreign FYPs in 2025, but it’s trickier than it was in 2023. Go in with a solid setup—new account, reliable VPN, no SIM or a foreign one, and tailored content—and you’ve got a shot. Test it out, check your analytics after a few posts (it takes a day or two for the data to show), and see where your views are coming from. If it’s working, awesome! If not, tweak your approach or lean harder into organic strategies.

Good luck with your Minecraft journey—hope to see your builds blowing up soon! My namesake Has Achieved a successful finish blowing all over the place.

Sincerely,

It used to work with just the VPN but Tiktoks algorithm has grown, they kinda found out what people were up to, so they changed it.

If you use ANY free VPN, you're not gonna get away with it and you'll get shadowbanned. You gotta pay for a VPN like Nords that has "no borders" mode or Proton. So if its worth it to you, pay for it.

Also, you need multi layered location masking, meaning your VPN, your SIM/eSIM and your language settings all have to match, because typically they do when you're from that region.

Make sure whatever VPN you choose has AI latency optimization or something that wont trip off Tiktok that gives you a 10,000 ping, thats not normal and you'll be found out.

All this to say, you can do it but its tedious as hell and you'll have to pay to play.

Good luck dude.
