Does TikTok stop pushing a popular video if a newer one starts gaining traction?

I had a vid over the weekend that got me the most saves and new followers since I started last year. I’m still super small (1600 followers) but was so excited to see a few hundred new people over a couple of days. That has never happened for me!

Then yesterday I posted another that is getting a ton of comments/engagement. Now that a new video is getting attention, my other one seems to have dried up. Along with the follower influx.

Just curious if this is a thing others have noticed or just that the video ran its course (more likely).
