Has a promotion ever triggered a video to go viral?

Has a paid promotion ever triggered a video to go viral after the promotion ends?

E.g. if a paid promotion says it will increase views 3k-13k. Has that ever triggered it to have gone way beyond that after?

Just wondering if a paid promotion could start a chain reaction if it's a good video with a good response rate still, or does it just stop dead usually after the promotion.
