Why does tiktok lives work?

Hey -

I have used tiktok since lockdown I believe, never really watched many lives.

I went on a scroll through a load of them tonight it blows my mind people throw money at these horrible people?

Someone was screaming at the viewers to send more gifts, they lost the “battle” going on to say how disappointed they are in the viewers. Mild threats to log off the live if they didn’t get more. They just got £100s thrown at them but they weren’t happy with that.

I understand if they were actually offering some entertainment but they are literally just shouting what gifts they need and for “gloves”.

Am I missing something?
