Should I delete the app?

I really liked this app for a while. Everyone was pr nice and I kinda liked how there was some content I had zero interest in because I wouldn't doom scroll as much

But now I keep seeing more bad stuff. Like I don't think Ive seen so much blatant animal abuse. There was a video of a woman just smacking a dog in the face over and over and I think it was supposed to be funny? But I disliked the video and blocked and moved on. Now I'm noticing more and more stuff like that. Like just now. There was a horrible horrible horrible video of a dog that had obviously died (in a horrible way). Like his eyes were sewn shut, tongue out, and there was a cup taped on his head but you clearly see carnage at the edges. Just absolutely horrifying. And the video was just scanning over him with vlogging music?! I disliked, reported, and blocked, and then the same video shows up 3 videos later ?!!

Someone tell me if this is to be expected and to keep happening or not.

Idec that I don't have anything to 'replace' it with. I'm pr done with social media now I guess. It's too many hoops to jump through and not fun anymore.

You should report him. Posting such content is definitely grounds for getting the account banned. It's they who should leave, not you.

I recently went through similar after following a BJD account that got extremely sketchy, I wonder if the coding for algorithms makes it difficult on English servers

I've never had this happen. I would suggest searching for something you're interested in and that should direct the algorithm to show you more if it. If I look for a pattern for example the next day I'll see mostly patterns. If you're just idly browsing it could be that the algo just doesn't have enough data to show you more relevant posts?

my feeling about this is sorta complex because you can’t seem to criticize animal abuse without both americans and chinese people coming at the defense of china.

but according to animal rights activists from chinese rednote users, they said that it’s okay to criticize china on this regard and some of the them are sharing these horrifying things on purpose because only international pressure will help the government take action on changing policies.

china hasn’t really caught up yet with animal abuse laws, and many chinese users hope that if there’s enough noise, things will change.

regarding the woman smacking a dog, I think a lot of people haven’t caught up yet. what china did was condense 100 years of progress into 40 years. people came from an era where their own parents and grandparents almost salem style witchhunts and starvation to some sort of urban cyberpunk city metropolis. it’s horrible but not surprising.

You keep clicking them and you will get more. That’s how these addictive apps work. Report these posts and be responsible for your own timeline is my advice.

Making the Jump from TikTok to Rednote(Xiaohongshu)? Here’s What You Need to Know

So you’re thinking about switching (or at least dabbling) from TikTok to **Rednote** (aka Xiaohongshu)? Here’s a quick rundown on what to expect and how to adapt: 1. **Different Vibe** * **TikTok** is all about short, snappy videos—dances, trends, and memes. * **Rednote** leans more toward lifestyle tips, product reviews, and personal stories. Think mini-blogs rather than just quick clips. 2. **Less is More—or Is It?** * On **TikTok**, you can go viral with a 15-second masterpiece. * On **Rednote**, people actually read captions and appreciate detailed posts. Don’t be afraid to write a bit more and share personal insights. 3. **Engage with the Community** * Responding to comments is key on both platforms, but **Rednote** users expect a friendlier, more helpful approach. Focus on real interaction rather than just racking up views. 4. **Use Relevant Hashtags & Keywords** * **TikTok** hashtags can be trendy and fleeting. * **Rednote** hashtags and keywords should be more targeted, especially if you’re reviewing products or sharing how-to tips. 5. **Be Ready for Culture Shifts** * The **Rednote** audience often loves beauty, travel, fashion, and “real-life” hacks. * If you’re pivoting from dance challenges, consider experimenting with lifestyle or review content to fit the platform’s style. 6. **Quality Over Quantity** * While **TikTok** can reward frequent posting, **Rednote** might favor fewer, well-thought-out posts that really resonate. High-quality visuals and genuine storytelling go a long way. Got questions about Rednote? Drop ’em below—always happy to help a fellow content creator make the jump!

The ban isn't really about privacy concerns

Why exactly? You and me know why America is banning tiktok... They can't control the narrative their like they do with Facebook or Instagram YouTube. etc The genocide in Gaza was being shown in its full without any kind of censorship... And daddy israel doesn't like that so the AIPAC who's holding the American politicians by the balls... Forced them into banning the app.... It's not about privacy or any of that.... Remember edward Snowden.? I rest my case.

Y'all know why Trump suddenly became "pro-TikTok" right?

Say it with me....because he and his oligarch buddies are getting worried Americans are waking up to the truth about the anti-China propaganda BS in Red Note and will either demand better conditions or go full socialist.
