Should your boyfriend/girlfriend dictate social media

Went through a divorce and one of the things i look back on was my partners feelings about my social media presence.

They'd said early they weren't comfortable with my face on the internet. People complementing me ect. Even threatened to break up if I didn't stop using it.

I'd given a hard no. I'm an engineer and I've been matching my own full time paycheck for a little over a year.

I have about 1 mil followers now. I just do tech news. It's been really lucrative and launched me into science journalism work, a radio show, and now a novel.

Early on They'd said I just like "attention" but could reluctantly accept it because it's become financially beneficial. I never made thrist traps. Just technology news content.

That always rubbed me the wrong way.

Thoughts on romantic partners feelings about social media?

So, the only reason a partner would be in the right about limiting/banning social media use would be these reasons:

1- Borderline cheating/flirting with others on social media platforms (but just break up at that point)

2- Using their body on social media outside of monetary gains/ breaking boundaries

3- Addiction of the screen and validation of posting

That’s it. A partner who is controlling of your screentime use, without reasonable cause, is a walking red flag

It comes down to trust. If they can't trust you to be on social media then you shouldn't be together
