account success after changing from private to public?

i’m wondering if anyone has experience having a private tiktok account (especially for a while), and then switching it to public. did you have success getting on the fyp afterward, or did being private before hinder your reach?

i’ve had a private account for a while now, and I’m thinking about making it public so I can start posting and reaching people. but i’m not sure if i’m just better off starting a new account instead.
