Why isn't there a way to disable message requests completely?

Every time I go on tiktok I have at least 10 "message requests". 99% of these are obviously fake celebs and bots, and the other 1% are thirsty guys who took a wrong turn and think they're on tinder (with the boring convo skills to match).

Why isn't there a setting to completely turn off requests? Tiktok doesn't make sense anymore.
