They say they'll pay you $500 to use your picture, they "accidentally" send $1000.
"Oops! Oh no! That's not even my money, it's my client's money! Can you please send the extra $500 back to my client?"
You do that, but then the original payment of $1000 falls through because it was never real and now you are on the hook for the real $500 you sent to a real 3rd party, usually located in a country where they'll get away with it and you have no recourse.
