Profile viewing confusion

I'm newish to TikTok and have alr falling into habits of checking my friends profiles quite often just cuz I'm interested but I wanna know if my friends account is private can they see if I have viewed their profile? I have profile viewing history off so I can't see who has viewn mine but I'm not sure how it affects other profiles and if the other persons is private if it just automatically notifies them
