How can they write such long comments, but I’m bound by a character limit?

My character limit is gone now for some reason, I've also seen others say the same

I remember a delightful time before India was connected to the internet. I want to go back so badly.

Either one of two things:

1. You have to meet a certain quota of followers before it's given to you
2. TT is used for surveillance and they are hoping longer character limits will allow people to dig their own grave by saying incriminating things :(
