Friends tab replaced with discover tab?

Hi, my friends tab on my phone keeps being replaced by the discover tab. When I deleted and redownloaded the app, I was able to get the friends tab back but it reverted to the discover tab again once I closed and reopened the app. How can I permanently have the friends tab? Thanks
