Rednote is a Chinese app. We are subject to Real ID regulations in this country for everything. For Chinese, this is done with an ID card or a facial scan (linked to the national biometric database and therefore the ID card). For everyone else, we have to use our passports. This is just how things are here.
All I did was log in with my Google account and then put my phone number in my profile. shrug
It’s strange. The same happend to me yesterday - my avatar was changed to a duck and my name got reset. The app asked to verify by passport which I refused. Today I’m able to change my profile picture and bio again but all my notes are now illegal and people can’t find them. I don’t understand what’s happening
