Streaks with people from other countries?

I usually live in the EU, but I’m currently in the US. I have a streak with one of my friends who lives in the US, even while I’m home. However, whenever I’m here, I’m unable to start a streak with another friend from back home. I’m curious why this isn’t working now. I’ve started a streak with this friend a few times, and I’m wondering how I can start it again.
