I get that what he’s ranting about seems obvious, but tbh it is a genuine frustration that “success” online tends to negatively correlate to things that make art good

And now they know what the internet is for 🤣

I make music and sometimes I've devoted 40 hours to a song/video that gets like 1k plays and sometimes I've made something in a half hour just recording on my phone that gets 10x the attention online.

Effort doesn't correlate with results wheb it comes to online engagement. There's a lot of other factors, primarily the algorithm, which usually rewards covers and cheap easy quick content that people will relate to and tap to like.

Is he under the impression that the amount of effort you put into something makes it good regardless of what it is?

That "professional" photo is just bland and have around 0 artistic value. Compared to it photo of his ass is much better.
