hello all - i am a young muslim woman who wears hijab. me and my cousin share a PRIVATE tiktok account between just the two of us and we post videos on this account for us to watch. i recently found out that tiktok sent a notification to one of our male friends (view photo) and it displayed one of my photos with my hair and cleavage. this has been extremely emotional distressing and i would like to purse action against tiktok but don’t know how. idek if i contact support if they’ll even care or do anything. i’m just so flabbergasted because this is literally a private account shared between just me and one other person

and like to clarify that this picture was directly from a video we posted. we do not have a profile pic on the account

They unfortunately have in their user agreement that they can share/use whatever content is posted to their media

You agree to those terms when you make the account

Some things you can do to help is going into the settings of friend/follower suggestions and turn all of those off

By no means am i saying youre at fault or stupid for being upset by this, but that these are predatory practices by TikTok - they are intentional. Tiktok is not secure.

You cannot pursue action for it. You literally agreed for them to share the photo.

Read the terms and conditions you are accepting before posting pictures like that if it concerns you so much. Aren’t you supposed to not take pictures like that at all?
