Birthday song trend rant

This birthday song trend on TikTok has officially broken my young Gen X heart. People in the club turning up to Usher – Burn and 50 Cent - In Da Club like it’s ancient history. I’ve seen it all—from Phil Collins to Flo Rida—and now apparently I’m one remix away from being wheeled into a museum next to the dinosaurs.

People born in 1989 are calling themselves ancient. I was 12. People born in 1992 calling themselves old … I was 15 listing to Baby Got Back when they were born. 🤦‍♀️ Please be serious.

That’s my childhood. The 90s were my high school and early adult years. At this point, I might have to log off TikTok until this trend dies down. It’s completely messing with my sense of time.

And the wildest part? It’s music I still listen to daily. 80s, 90s, 00s… easily one of the best eras for music. Don’t play with me.
