When you block someone, does it prevent you from seeing their messages on lives?

There's a few people that I encounter on some lives that I'd like to block. I'm not the host, we are just viewers. Their comments towards the host are terrible but of course tiktok does nothing when reporting them, so I'm wondering how blocking them works.

If I block them, will their messages stop showing for me on the live? Will my messages be shown to them? If a third person does @me in a message will it be shown to them? Thanks in advance!
