DO NOT PAY MONEY TO GET IT BACK. You will give them money and they will not give it back. Then they know they can get money out of you and will demand more.

Also, do NOT trust anyone who says you can pay them to get it back. It may sound legit but it’s a scam too.

Tell your friend to change all their passwords on every account they have. This usually happens when you use the same password on multiple accounts because once they figure out one password, they have them all. Let them know to never use the same password twice and change them frequently.

I don’t know how TikTok admin works so I don’t know if your friend can report this and get a case for account recovery started. However, they (and you) can avoid this in the future if you switch up passwords often.

Go over to r/scams and learn about recovery scams as well so you don’t get had.

Paying money will only increase their net from this. Any money in the account will already have been removed and they're not giving it back. Have your friend report it to their state's Attorney General's office. Each state has a consumer protection unit. They may be able to go after any assets seized when/if these criminals are arrested, even if outside the country.
