TikTok is blocking Circle to Search + recent app preview, but only sometimes? Anyone else?

Hi everyone, I’ve run into a weird issue after updating TikTok on my Samsung Galaxy phone and tablet.

Circle to Search (or Google Lens) doesn’t work on TikTok anymore. When I long-press to activate it, the screen goes black.

TikTok also shows a blank screen in the recent apps view, no preview of what I was last watching (unlike Instagram or Reddit).

This started after the latest TikTok update.

What’s strange is: On my tablet, the feature works sometimes. For example:

It didn’t work on one video,

Then it worked on the next,

Then stopped again mid-scroll.

I tried clearing cache, reinstalling, restarting, nothing fixed it permanently.

It seems like TikTok is either blocking search per video or testing a new restriction rollout that’s still inconsistent.

Anyone else experiencing this? Any fixes?
