I suddenly lost almost all my views for seemingly no reason. What happened?

It's about interest and algorithms. If your goal is to make videos that get more views, consider the following:

Visual Interest - notice how those videos with more visual interest get more views, that means it is catching the eyes of people and they are engaging more with them, so TikTok then shows it to more people.
Time spent on your Videos is Important - your content needs to be engaging. So something like looking at the camera with your hand over your mouth with surprised eyes and a subtitle "You won't believe this new project I'm working on." Then cutting to show your project, will engage the user and make them want to see what you've made. Even if they don't like what you've made, you will still get the engagement and maybe more interaction with your video. This will cause the algorithm to think there is a viable interest in your video and share it with more people.
Be consistent - if you want to develop a following, figure out what you want to make videos about and stick to it. The algorithm will find people that like stuff you make eventually, but people will only follow if their interests align with your video. At that point it's out of the algorithm's hands and you'll get views from followers regardless. It takes time, consistency, and patience.
