LeBron James dragged into NBA mafia gambling scandal
NBA superstar LeBron James is now embroiled in the NBA’s mafia gambling scandal after it was alleged his private information was leaked from the Los Angeles Lakers locker room. The NBA was thrust into a full-blown crisis on Thursday morning after the FBI revealed a series of wide-ranging investigations into Mafia-led gambling rackets, with Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups and Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier are among 34 arrested. And now it has been claimed that another defendant, former NBA star Damon Jones, shared private information about James’ injury status with gamblers just days after he set the league’s all-time scoring record. According to the FBI, Jones - a friend of James and not an employee of the Lakers - sold or tried to profit from non-public information about the basketball legend, before he was ruled out of a game against the Milwaukee Bucks on February 9, 2023.
