Profile view notification?

Ive always had my profile views off. Yesterday I started getting a notification everytime someone views my profile, even though I have my views off. To see who viewed it, id have to turn them on, which i dont want to. Im just wondering can people with their views on now see that I looked at their profile? Im just confused cuz I've never gotten any type of notification before.
