Curious about ARPG's

I've never played an arpg, at least not to my knowledge. I've seen some content from poe2 and also diablo 4 but I don't really know if I'd enjoy it but I would like to try one out just to see. I am first wondering which game you would recommend more for someone new to ARPG's. Diablo 4 comes with a much heftier price tag so if that is recommended then I will just wait for it to go on sale. But I am also coming here to ask whether path of exile would be fun for someone new to the ARPG space, the game looks fun but incredibly complex. I don't mind learning games but I hope the learning is fun alongside the gameplay. I am essentially asking: is path of exile better than diablo 4 for beginners? and if so, should I purchase the game to figure out whether I enjoy them or not? and also I suppose if you have any other recommendations for ARPG's that are better for beginners.

Yah Poe1 is free to try and both Poe’s are imo far better and offer more depth and engagement than D4. Poe2 is a bit easier to get the grasp of getting started I think, but there are a ton of guides for Poe1 to help you through any confusion.

Also a few streamers have play-through/play-along videos where they do a starter build though the whole campaign. Zizaran is the most known. I think GhazzyTV also has one
