Hinakora's locks - how to use - logistics

I recently obtained a temporalis for 3 mirrors (div'd it like 40 times to get -2 sec cd)
- I'd like to get a 3rd socket on it, and was wondering how to properly utilize hinakora's locks to safely corrupt a 3rd socket

- Is it something like, use hinakora's lock > turn on omen of corruption > hover vaal orb over it and if you don't like the outcome, don't use the vaal orb and use another hinakora's lock ?

- I've never used it before so I have no idea how the logistics actually works. Don't want to accidentally brick the temporalis lol.

You can Check with vaal orb, vaal orb + Omen. The outcomes are Not the Same.

To remove a lock when the outcome is not worth it, you can use every currency that alters the item.

Maybe go with the overquality on temporalis?

Yeah, you just hover to see the outcome. You can check vaal orb with omen/without omen, as those are different outcomes. You also need to reset the lock to apply a new one (divining).

Yup, that’s how it works.

Hinekora realization is pretty straightforward and intuitive, you can't mess it up unless accidentally click unwanted outcome.

You need to apply another currency to it each time you use another hinekoras lock, to “reset” it. So if you don’t get the outcome you want with the Vaal orb, you will need to apply some other currency item to it and the. Apply the next hinekoras lock. The most expensive option is to redivine it, but if a vaal infuser (the item that boosts the quality above 20%) doesn’t corrupt it, you can use that to break the hinekoras lock for cheaper

Hover a vaal orb, then vaal orb + omen of corruption, they give two different outcomes. You can also try Vaal Infuser and if it doesn't corrupt, you can raise quality and remove the lock to try again.

If all results are bad, you have to use a divine and divine it again. As far as I know you can't use Hinekora's lock on an item that already has it applied, at least that's how it worked in PoE1.

If an item has an implicit you can use omen of the blessed + divine to only reroll the impicit rather than the entire item, but Temporalis doesn't have one so it shouldn't work.
