Just looking for a bit of info

Hi folks,

I am very new to path of exile 2. Never played the first, but am a fan of the ARPG genre. When I started poe2 I chose sorceress because I thought magic would be cool, but once I got to the ascendancy I kind of realized I may have screwed up a bit. I didn’t realize that any character could use pretty much whatever they wanted. So I started to spec into chaos as I thought the purple magic stuff was cool. And it’s been fun. I’m sold on the game 100%. But when I ascended none of the ascendancies really seemed to fit the build. Stormweaver is all about elemental, which isn’t what my character is doing, the acolyte seemed like a non necromancy minion sort of thing, which isn’t my vibe either, so I went chronomancer. That doesn’t fit right either, but it seemed like the best option. Now though, I’m realizing I may have made an error. The ascendancies for the Witch class seem like they would be much better for my build, the Lich in particular. So I’m wondering if this sorceress is even worth continuing. Cuz this chronomancer class is kinda buns I can’t lie. That, or I just have no clue how to use it properly. Should I restart a new character as a witch for this chaos build and completely respec my sorceress? Or what? I just wanna hear from some vets of this series what my options here are.

Thanks for reading:)

Stormweaver have some neat tricks, but they are lacking key tools like an effective mitigation layer AND mana management. You have to pick one. You can convert all your ES into an effective mana pool, but then you have very little ailment resistance and your main mitigation tools, Energy shield recharge rate and faster start, are dead. You also have to take a -50% mana recovery nerf and double the mana cost of your spells.

If you have an effective mitigation layer with ES stuff and ailment resistance, you are out of mana in 4-5 seconds on a boss fight. You can't get both.

TLDR: Changes to Eldritch Battery and +ailment resistance on max MANA, as opposed to ES/Life, are needed. They should probably introduce talents to change ES Rate/Recovery to Mana regen.

Hey! New player too. I’m in the same boat as you. I’m a lvl 87 shaman Druid. Went with Druid but realized all I wanna do is cast spells. The ascendancy I’m using isn’t bad, but I think sorceress or witch would have been wayyy better. But now I’m level 87 and have put all this time in…I really don’t want to restart. Or lose my stuff/divines.

Anyone have advice for us? Maybe start a new character and have it power leveled to around where I’m/OP are at? (Is that even a thing in PoE2?) and are you able to share equipment and materials with a second character?

Sorceress is fun! My first char was a mercenary and i didn’t enjoy that, i thought maybe range wouldn’t be bad my first on my first ever ARPG and it wasn’t bad but it became stale quickly so around lvl 90 i swapped to sorcess, storm weaver cold infused spark was super fun for 150 hrs, now i reascended and did a varshata (lvl 99) and i run minions (powered lightning zealots) on that character and it shredds irradiated cetidal bosses on T15 in seconds :D, I must say tho, the build is super expensive the scepter alone was like 3,4k divines.

next to the sorcess i went back and started a new character a huntress and ascended to ritualist with her and it fun so far.

What i an trying to say is: the game is flexible when it comes to weapons, gear and build, you can do like 95% of the builds on your sorc with no issues!

for me the next league i am going with druid and ascending oracle (even if they add a new class) just for fun and because oracle seems op contesting with the blood mage.

Personally i recommend you try to find a budget friendly CoC build and roll with that!

Chronomancer is more for all the spells with cooldowns and her own unique skills, Chaos witch or Monk might have been better. You can re roll (the new league isnt until May you have plenty of time to play and learn), and use what you learned with the sorceress to play witch (they start from the same place on the tree). The neat thing is that your sorc isnt useless, you have one ascended now, so if you ever wanted to check out any of their ascendancy, you can respec this one. (if you redo the highest level ascendancy trial you've done, unspec all your ascendancy points (you can do this with Trialmaster or Balbala after youre done with the trial dw), and click the altar, it will let you pick one of the other ascendancies. Straight up just have fun! I've already hit the character limit over four leagues and am eyeing buying more slots haha.
