How do you approach lock shortage in the temple?

I was pretty low on locks (only had 2) and instead of improving I just had zero locks through the whole run. It puts me in a tricky position. I can lock both my snakes now and go for the next run without any locks at all hoping that there's no way I will have two runs in a row without any locks (wishful thinking, I know). OR I can lock my main snake and waste some of the secondary snake right now, but keep the lock for the next run and the unlikely chance that I will in fact hit zero locks again, so I could at least save my main snake one more time.

Basically I wonder how others deal with situations like this? Do you risk both snakes (in most cases you will get some locks, cause two lockless runs in a row is pretty damn rare), or do you keep your main safe at all costs and use secondary snake to absorb some damage even if you can save it in the moment?

Lock your main snake before running it. See how many locks you drop. If more than one, lock second snake. If 0 again, you'll lose some of the second snake, but you have one more chance to not lose any of your first

There are basically 2 scenarios:

  1. You lock both snakes and you will not find a single lock and have to watch your main snake be obliterated the following run.

  2. You lock your main snake, obliterating your second snake and then you find 12 locks so that you have to leave at least 4 locks on the ground.

Make a choice.
