Bug or are we missing something?

Hi,

yesterday my buddy and I did our runs in the temple of Atziri where we reached the architect's chamber for the first time. We did our runs separately and when we reached the chamber we both didn't encounter the architect. At the end of the chamber there were only 3 golden chests with average loot and the altar for the special rooms. I reached the chamber through a connection with a barracks chamber. We are both around level 32 and just reached act 3 of the story. Was it a bug that we both didn't encounter the architect? Or are we missing some requirements?
