20+ second freezes - GGG or Me?

I upgraded to a new PC back in December and have had this issue ever since.

The game will freeze for about 20 seconds. At the end it goes to a black screen with gears turning for a few seconds before returning to normal.

It didn't do this in 0.3 with my old machine but it does now. 0.4 and my upgrade happened around the same time so I'm wondering if it's my machine or something on GGG's side.

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I'm running a 5070ti with up-to date drivers if it matters.

Its a Direct X thing. Switch to Vulkan and it will stop. The framerate isn't as good but it's significantly more stable.

I got that with latest AMD graphic card driver.

Went back 2 major versions and it solved the issue

I've had similar issue, clearing shader cache seems to help.

Same for me since a week ~

If you don't want to use vulkan, downgrade your Nvidia drivers to 560.81. Do a clean install, and it will work like a charm.

Shader cache delete basically fixed it for me. Use Vulcan also.

Congratulations, you've encounter the cogwheel crash. Occurs every other map, especially on 50-series RTX cards. You cannot fix it other than to switch to Vulkan and enjoy the worse performance there. Don't bother with switching drivers/DDU or anything, it won't work.

Sincerely, RTX 5080 user.

Try to turn off Nvidia Reflex and see if there’s a change.

Try decreasing the freeze magnitude on your cpu
