Help with Temple

Need help with setting up my temple. I've seen lots of videos and explanations but they're all scrambled in my mind. I get some of the basics, I think.

My main snake is the one going on the right. I'm trying to do the Russian tech on it, but my main problem has been the lack of locks. I had a Spymaster and a garrison set up on the right side, but i connected a wrong armoury there and it all destabilized.

Also, I'm using the path in the middle with rooms as cannon fodder, but don't know if I should be putting specific rooms on it.

I'm a bit frustrated because it seems like it doesn't progress a lot. Please send help

Any rooms will work as fodder. Just put some more there. 10 or so should be enough to lower the chance for your snake to get hurt too often.

I would also use those fodder rooms to set up the place for your architect to go. He's in a terrible spot right now.

Locks are very rare at first. You should rely on your fodder rooms most of the times and save your locks for when you need to save the newly placed spymaster from immediate assassination.

Keep throwing random rooms in the middle, which rooms don't really matter - they are just cannon fodder as you mentioned.

The lack of locks will get better as you get more spymasters. Both the spymasters and the garrisons on both sides of them can drop locks (if you hold alt and look at a room it tells you what medallions they can drop). The garrisons have to be tier 3 (which they will be if you're doing the russian tech).

Keep chugging, I had a 70 room temple and decided to tear it all down to do a full-tech one and I'm only 2 spymasters ahead of you. I get a lock every other run, and hope the cannon fodder rooms protect me the other times (they don't always). Eventually you'll be getting 3-4 locks a run and life will be good.
