This game has gigantic multiplayer problem...

I own an optimized 77 rooms Temple. I'm good currency wise, so I decided I was going to take a few leechers.
Why? To share the goodies, allow them to gain a lot of XP, pick the items that drop in the Temple that are usually good, and have a cool multiplayer experience but...

I told the party that I was going to pick divs and up and pay 20 divs to each one of them. If mirror 400D and hinekora 100D. Everyone typed that they were cool with it, so we go in.
As soon as divines started dropping, I see this dude jumping into them very fast. He took like 3 very quickly. I paused for a sec and remided him what the deal was and telling him that if he takes the divs I wasn't gonna be able to share with the group. He didn't type, he started spinning around so I thought it was an ''ok'' answer.
We go into the next room and he starts doing the same picking every divine. I decided it was time to kick him... And here I found a gigantic problem with this game: you CAN NOT kick players from Temple, which seems to also apply for maps or any other activity.

I tried relog, joined again, and he was still there.
I tried ignore - He was still there.
Left the Temple and went inside again - He was still there.

So I thought ''okay, he is not in the party anymore, maybe I should just keep going and since we are not in the same party he shouldn't be able to pick anything...'' Wrong! I entered the next room, he follows me because he knows what he's doing, and despite not being in my party and being an ignored player: HE CAN STILL LOOT MY DROPS!!
I had to just go a few rooms until dropped the only thing he couldn't steal, the lock medallions, leaving the Temple and close it.

Why is there an option to ''kick from party'' when it doesn't kick from party? Maybe I am missing the meaning of party in terms of PoE, I don't know.
Are we supposed to deal with players that just want to ruin the experience for the others?

GGG is so busy nerfing builds that they don't realize how many problems the game has beyond people having fun, which seems to be the main problem for them. I see every patch ''fixing'' the fun, but I have read that this is a problem since day 1.
My bad for inviting unknown players, but come on...

The entire concept of leechers boosting drop rates is plain silly and should be removed along with increased item rarity.

Individualised drops should be forced in party play, friends playing together will share loot so it doesn't affect them negatively.

being able to pick up loot while not being in a party, lmao, what.

While in your position a "kick from instance" option would obviously be good and helpful, it will also cause just as many instances of people abusing it to scam people out drops. Generally speaking, if you can't trust your party members (aka randoms) then you just adjust how drops are handled in the party/social menu.

Ultimately i don't think that there are enough people seriously playing the game like that, and even this league it's only because of a league mechanic "gone wrong", for GGG to make it one of their current priorities. I feel like generally most of those who do play in parties do so with guild members or friends.

While i agree that it would be a helpful/needed option for situations like these, how are you gonna prevent it from being used for malicious purposes?

Yes, multiplayer is a real problem. The GGG should remove the free-for-all item pickup, and it will fix the problem forever. If you play with friends, there will be no problem. And with that, no one will ever want leechers boosting drops.

Looks like a lot of people dont know about ingame Item allocation. You can find this Option under "Game" Options.

The game needs a mode balanced around solo play. Not just an arbitrary restriction to not trade but actually balancing/drop rates for solo.

There’s a super simple fix: change loot from FFA

Join the TFT (the forbidden trove) discord server and use that for meeting people to play with. They have an honor system and a vouching system and you can report people that dont follow the rules you agree with. Just make sure to record your screen so you can prove when people are being scummy

The leech meta is the multiplayer problem for sure.

Seems like this system is ancient and outdated. Blows my mind how they’re not auto kicked from your instance after 60 seconds. That’s the first problem.

The second problem like you mentioned is the loot. How they’re still able to pick up your loot is the most flawed game design in any game I’ve ever seen. Such a sloppy thoughtless system it’s truly frustrating.

So if you select FFA loot you can loot divs quicker but if one leecher runs up he can steal them. If you select short allocation, if anyone in the party is close to the div when it drops the game randomly selects who it drops for then you have to wait to loot it slowing the whole operation down. AND they can still steal it from you if they’re fast enough. Permanent allocation is obviously not an option.

There’s no good way to deal with this. None I’ve found yet. The best thing to do is not overly concern yourself with div drops and truly hone in on the lock and mirror drops. Although worst case scenario is they steal a lock or mirror from you which is very possible under this system.
