Not sure how to benefit from volatility as a chonk.

i asked for some help understanding how volatility worked yesterday and got some very helpful answers.

I've built a freezing salvo bow chonk and can easily stack up tons of volatility with kills, and inflicting elements.

my question is how to use the volatility during clearing or if its just meant to be cheesed with the minion sacrifice tech for bosses. by the time it explodes and I get the buff, everything is dead, and it goes away belt the next pack.

am I missing something? can I effect how soon it donates on me somehow?
