Citadel Scavenger Hunt

I've done all content other than kill the Arbiter. For reference, I've killed uber versions of bosses for Abyss, Breech, and Ritual and farmed all the material myself (250 ea.). Cleared T15 corruption too. This is quite alot without coming across 1 citadel imo. I've looked up videos and they say they're near water, others say they are near towers. I'm losing my mind- fog of war is unnecessary. How far away are these things from starting point as a crow flies?

That's strange. Never had any issues with finding citadels, they are literally everywhere once you find the first one. For me they started showing up around 3-5 screens away from home location. I went in a straight line northeast, but the direction doesn't matter. Try not to map in a swirl as the invisible boundary is a radius. Use the grand project tablets to hop towers.

I think most people who don't find citadels just underestimate their distance from starting point. Be sure to be fully zoomed out and drag your screen fully in direction of your travel at least 5 times. If you get into fog again, you probably just haven't traveled far enough. Keep going.

The closest citadels are normally at least 3-4 fully zoomed out screens away from the starting point. If you’ve been making a circle around the starting point instead of going in one direction that’s why you haven’t seen one yet. Once you get far enough away from the start, you’ll start seeing them all over the place since they now spawn in clusters relatively close to each other. Usually no more than 1-2 screens before you find another cluster of them. Use grand project tablets in towers to quickly move long distances in the atlas

on average probably about 4-5 full screens away from the starting point, just pick a direction and go straight until you find one.... the other 2 shouldn't be too far away from the first one you find

U need to use the unique tablet on towers that gives access to all maps in its radius. I think its called "visions of paradis"? Then just go from tower to tower in a straight line in one direction.

Yeah it’s not water or towers whoever said that. It’s always after a certain distance from the start point. Go in a straight line or as straight as possible. Be disciplined and don’t to lots of other side maps. You’ll find a cluster soon enough and then more will pop up.

Also zoom out once you start to find some as the beams will show up through the fog of war.

I noticed some Path of Exile acronyms in this post:

I picked a direction and beelined in a straight line until I hit a citadel beam. Took 5ish screens away from base for my first cluster. If I didn't get any in like 10-11 screens away, I'd go again from base in a different, straight direction.

Yeah I feel like everyone in this thread is wrong. If you've spent 15 hours mapping and you havent came across a citadel I bet you just haven't started the quest. You actually have to travel to the burning monolight and attempt to enter the temple. Your character will then say a couple voice lines and citadels will start appearing. Citadels will not appear at all until you attempt to enter the Burning Monolith.

Tower hop with grand project precursors, I’m clearing 2-3 citadels if not more per hour

Has nothing to do with towers, waters or going to the arbiter location. Everything depends on distance from home, so like someone said pick a direction and just go. Use towers + unique tablet to jump ahead quickly. I’d say if you did no jumping you can expect around 100-150 maps in one direction before they start spawning.

When they start spawning they are everywhere
