Best/Most Current Temple Building Guide

Howdy all,

I'm currently building out my temple, and I just placed my 11th Spymaster, which (I believe) means it's time to transition to the smithy/golem phase of the build. I've heard again and again that the smithy/golem chain and specifically the corners and Sacrificial Chamber placement are the most difficult part of the whole process, so I really want to be sure I know that I'm doing before I dive in.

I've watched Fubgun's videos, and I understand that the temple you end up with is great, but the main video itself seems to be full of mistakes that he then tries to correct (not very clearly, in my opinion) in the comments.

I've watched LLYD's video series (both zero to hero and the reconstructing videos) and I've heard his temple isn't quite as good as Fubgun's, but he definitely does a better job explaining the tech.

I've watched some of TempOH's stuff. He claims his temple is even better than Fub's. I don't know if that's true, and his Architect is in a different spot from mine, so I'm hesitant to even watch much of it because I don't know if I can stomach the effort required to move my Architect into a specific spot again.

I've also heard that there are ways to build your temple that allow you to do Architect every run, or Atziri every other run, or even every run, neither of which is presented as an option in Fub or LLYD's videos that's I've seen.

So my question:

What is currently the best guide(s) for temple construction according to the following criteria?

  • Most rewarding temple

  • Most up-to-date tech

  • Most clear and correct explanations of how to pull off said tech.

I don't mind combining the layout from one guide with the explanations from another (as long as there are no conflicts like Sacrificial Chamber placement) I just really want to have a firm grasp on what I'm doing before I start trying to execute the next part of my build.

Great question, I'm in the exact same position. But I didn't KGB Tech all the way. Just took it as it came. I'm 1 time away from that 4th corner and I'm not sure what to do now.

The reconstruc llyd is the fugbun one so it seems it’s the way to go

So I did fubgun but wherever he made mistakes, either he has a pinned comment for it, or I understood the mechanics enough to avoid that mistake. A full tech temple is dropping me around 85 divs solo and already dropped one mirror and two locks in a month.

Tempoh’s is great. It might be a bit less than the Fubgun (I think Fubs temple isn’t his design btw), but it’s a very easy build. There’s only two spots that require advance tech.

Imo in terms of the guide clarity/build process his wins.

There’s a “forbidden” temple that someone posted here on Reddit, it’s likely the most advanced layout, with permanent Atziri and fully juiced, but the only guide that exists is a GIF.

LLYD is who you want to watch for the most detailed explanations of tech. I think the temple he shows in the rebuilding video is identical to the one from Fubgun’s video based on the Ckaiba’s Roman Empire preset layout on the Sulozor online tool.

The only difference in the 2 main giga temple layouts is whether you have 11 spymasters or 12. With 11 you remove a spy/garrison (% increased rares, rarity from monsters from spy’s boost to alch) and fit in an additional corruption and thaumaturge (higher chance for rares to have additional mod) in the 4th corner transition after spy/garrison and place the sac chamber 1 space earlier. Once you hit the corruption chamber after the sac, they’re identical.

I built the version with 12 spymasters (musti_a’s - Optimized preset layout) with the Atziri kill every other run tech at the end of the second chain which removes 1 commander and 1 garrison. In terms of raw div drops, mine averages 70-75 per run and has peaked a little over 80. I think fubgun averaged around 80 and peaked around 90 when I watched his streams after it was built, so it’s not a huge difference. I haven’t had a lock or mirror drop yet, but I think that’s really just the nature of RNG and not that the 12 spy layout is inherently worse for ultra rare currency drops. If I didn’t have the Atziri tech and kept the extra commander and garrison, my guess is the raw div drops would be more in line with the 11 spy version.

I’ve debated removing the Atziri kill tech and seeing what the full temple is like for drops. I’ve killed Atziri 15-20 times and have only had the unique chest drop once. Others have said they’ve had it drop damn near every other run. If I don’t get at least 2 chest pieces in my next full set of temple runs I’ll probably switch it
