Fun fact the USA has a similar system that at one point was automated so much that it could have taken just 1 missile traveling through a specific airspace for some random 18yr old in a bunker in butt fuck nowhere to start a nuclear war.

Basically all nuclear powers set up a system to automatically fire their whole arsenal of nuclear weapons at predetermined targets. Mainly bc once a warhead is launched they had like 15min to retaliate before being blown up.

Im not sure, but i think the system is still in place today, but just has a few more stop gaps. You just have to love the fact. A bunch of old white dudes decided for everyone alive present and future. That if the old white man was to die from a wmd everyone should suffer because of it.

There are plenty of terrible assumptions underlying hyper readiness for mutually assured destruction as a way to prevent nuclear war. There have been so many close calls with false positives that you could argue that the only reason nuclear war hasn't happened yet is specific individuals ignoring these crazy protocols. 

It’s wild at no point humans are like, wait why are we taking all of this so far, how about we just not have nukes.. let’s just all agree no nukes and everyone is free to inspect everyone as much as needed at any time.
